"Life is just like an old time rail journey...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vista and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."- Gordon B Hinckley

First of all, I really miss Gordon B. Hinckley. I know I have said this numerous times, but seriously he was just the greatest. I really love this quote because it reminds us that there are always good times in our future.  I am in the 'beautiful vista' part of the ride at the current moment. LIFE IS SO GOOD! So let's get to the good bit. Here's a recap of how good my life is:

  • My roommates are INCREDIBLE. Seriously. They are so positive, loving, righteous, crazy and fun all at the same time. (And they put up with me). I have never really been in a situation where I could honestly say that I LOVED all of my roommates so quickly. This past week alone we have done so many great things (but more on that later). Anyways, I am lucky to call these girls 'my family' or as Jordan (one of my roommates) would say, "My gypsies." So blessed.
  • Roommate sleepover- This past Sunday was Fast Sunday so we decided we would do an epic girl sleepover. Kristina made us these delicious chicken enchiladas and I made this new delicious recipe called Sopapilla Cheesecake and both were divine. We then painted our nails patriotic colors. Only problem was our white "Crackle" nail polish wouldn't open. Seeing as how this was a girl sleepover, we proceeded to knock on the first guy's apartment we came to so they could open it. Good news is that we have strong men in our ward because they opened it for us. Ray, one of the guys in our ward who opened the bottle for us, accused us of walking around and testing out the strength of all the guys in our ward. Which we totally weren't. But then proceeded to because it was such a great idea. Until we ran into Ray home teaching on the next floor. Anyways, even though it was supposed to be just girls, we ended up going to a game night, eating ice cream cake at our guy friend's apartment and even meeting a random guy named Patrick. It was soo much fun and my crack laugh made a huge debut! And I totally stayed up late. We then moved all of our matresses into the living room and watched Mary Poppins until 2 in the morning. It was delightful because my roommates are the best.
  • I also had opportunity to hang out with my old roommate Makayla and Madison while Madison was in town being an EFY counselor! It was soooo great! This might be way too weird, but that was the longest time Madison and I have been apart (insert the jokes here). But seriously! It was so nice being around a person who knows you so well that she know exactly what I am thinking all the time. We went to see Brave, walked all the way to Zupas (which is quite a feat let me tell you) and even started watching a Chick Flick. (And at this point, I should probably point out that Madison was exhausted and therefore I could trick her into watching a Chick Flick). Anyways it was super awesome and I already miss her tons!
  • I, Kelsey Marie Davis, made it to Level 3 of the Butt Bible. You may be asking yourself why is this so important? Well, let me answer that. First of all, it has been one of my personal goals to have the best butt out there. (I know you're thinking TMI, but I don't really care because it really is one of my goals). Also the Butt Bible is FREAKING HARD! So it felt good to finally reach the hardest level.
  • Now onto the really crazy part of my life- I went bouldering!!!!! For those who do not know what the means, it's basically like rock climbing but you go horizionally across the rock instead of vertically. Now for those of you who know me, you know I am freaking a baby when it comes to things like this. But you need not fear because I am alive to tell the tale and I am here to tell you I would do it again in a heartbeat. (And yes, hell just froze over). It was a great experience and I am so glad I went!
  • I went on the vacation my family had been planning (and by family, I mostly mean my Omi (grandma)) for five years. We went to Disneyworld and on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas. IT WAS THE BEST! I really liked D-World a lot minus the Tower of Terror. Here's the thing, I HATE the idea of being stuck in an elevator. It was one of my biggest fears. So I go on the ride because I am 19 years old for crying out loud. We all get on the ride including my grandparents and the second the ride starts, I cry. Not like sobbing cry per se, but I definitely had tears coming down my face. It was super embarrassing because that was when the picture was taken. The picture made it look like I had seen death because I was so scared. I highly doubt that the embarrassment will ever die especially because my little 6 year old cousin went on it and was fine. However, Hollywood Studios was redeemed in my eye because it was Star Wars weekend. As a very Star Wars nerdy family, this was very exciting. My goal for the day (besides trying to convince my family that I was not a baby for crying on the Tower of Terror), was to get a picture with Chewbacca. Sadly it never happened, but we did get a good shot of just him. So that's cool.  I also had the opportunity to go on my favorite ride- Space Mountain- 3 times which made me very happy. My favorite day was probably Epcot because not only did I get a picture with Mary Poppins (!!!!!), I also got to go to "Italy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" One of my primary life goals is going to Italy and this was like the mini version of it. I ate both a canoli and gelatto and it was marvelous. The world showcase was awesome but it also made me really want to drop out of school and travel. In "Mexico," I had the opportunity to meet up with Marisa and we got to hang out the whole day! It was probably one of the best days of D-World. We also went to a legit Luau and let me tell you, I wish I lived there so I could watch all of the men fire dancers. They were beautiful. Oh yes, the food was good. But the entertainment was better ;)
  • Cruise- After five grueling, hot, humid days in Disneyworld, we boarded our cruise. Can I just say that Disney's cruise line was exceptional. IT WAS SOO COOL!!!!!! We went to the launch party and I just had the song "I'm on a Boat" stuck in my head the whole time. We went to the Bahamas the first day were we went snorkeling (quite an adventure learning how to do that and wearing contacts). The water there is BEAUTIFUL. I know you see pictures of the Bahamas and you think the water is photoshopped, but it is not. We also went into some of the shops and bartered, which was totally scary for me because I HATE talking to people I don't know. We went to all of the cruise shows, which were great and we even had the opportunity to watch Avengers twice while on the ship. We then went to Castaway Cay, which is Disney's private island. Can anyone say paradise? My mom went to the adult beach called Serenity Bay (And no this island was NOT a nude beach although it sounds like that when you read what I just wrote.) I spent the whole day in the beautifully gorgeous water and then we all met for a huge BBQ outside. It then started raining but we stuck it out. Until I got a migraine! ON OUR LAST DAY OF THE CRUISE! I was really upset and cried like a baby but luckily my dad had all of his medicine so I just slept it off. However, our room viewed the ocean so I just sat and watched the ocean go by. So beautiful. Needless to say, the cruise was incredible minus my migraine!
  • Michal's newspaper store on the effects of Obamacare made it to the FRONT PAGE of the newspaper. I was pretty pumped for her because she originally hated journalism and she totally rocks at it!
  • So I have turned into a domestic goddess over the last month. And by "domestic goddess," I mean I made my favorite recipe. From scratch. By myself. It's called Ranch Chicken and I literally had a dream about it because I was craving it so bad. I finally accepted the fact that I wouldn't be having it because my mom was in Colorado. But then she brought up the fact that I could make it. Cooking+me+no bueno. But when you are having dreams about a certain type of food, it is highly advisable to make it! So I did! AND IT WAS SO DELIGHTFUL! Seriously, I think I could just marry it and be more happy with it than any man I've met.
  • I LOVE the Fourth of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yesterday, I went to the parade with Michal and her family and then over to her grandparent's house for a breakfast feast. Can I just say I love parades? The energy. The really weird floats that are super random i.e. the huge blow up balloon of the Jetsons characters. But it was super fun and I am so glad I went! My roomies and I were supposed to go to Chipotle because I haven't had it in almost two months but at the last second we realized it was closed. Needless to say I turned on Katy Perry's "Part of Me" on full volume and sang it to the imaginary Chipotle in my living room. It ended up totally fine though because we went to a sandwhich place called Which Wich? and it was super good. All of us went to watch the soccer game because two of the guys in our ward  are on the team. (Yeah I know what you're thinking. Kelsey went bouldering AND go a men's soccer game. Yep. I am massively expanding what I do.) Anyways, it went much better than last year because this year I didn't have to get busted by the police for trespassing... Danny is such a bad influence! (That's all I am going to say about that)
  • For our ward activity on Friday, we went to Lowe's Extreme Sports which for my Colorado friends is kind of similar to Jump on It. Needless to say, this is NOT my type of place because there was rock walls and trapezes into foam pits. But for some reason I just decided to get really into. So I hung onto a trapeze and jumped in the foam pit, played basketball on a trampoline with Berg, Bahaar and Race, and even attempted rock climbing. It ended up being super fun but we definitely made Race tired (See below picture). Also as a random side note, Race and I have everything in common, including our last name, which makes him one of the coolest people I've met. (Please don't take that last sentence as conceited because I am just saying we're pretty cool haha).
  • So I am continuing to love my job. The other day the phone rings (which is obviously not unusual) and I hear, "hello this is _____ (I already forgot her name), President Monson's secretary." Let me tell you, I about dropped the phone. But it was pretty cool. The whole time I was thinking, "Hey, I would be such a great secretary for President Uchtdorf."
  • I just read Mindy Kaling's "Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me and Other Concerns" and it was the funniest book I have ever read. It also reads like what my autobiography would sound like if I was Indian. You NEED to read it! Hilarious.
Now onto some pictures...

A picture of Castaway Cay. SO BEAUTIFUL!
Me, Bergen, Angel, Jordan and Bahaar at our roommate dinner at Chilis!

Favorite quote from the past month:
Angel: Do you have a Dell computer?
Me: No
Angel: Okay thanks I'll go ask Bergen.
Me: *singing "Do You Know (The Ping Pong Song)" at the top of my lungs
Angel: Is that a Dell?
Berg: No that's Enrique Iglesias.
Angel: No I meant your computer.

Favorite new pick up line: "Are you African?... Because African love you!

Anyways, although I was VERY wary of staying out here in the summer, I am so blessed to be here! Life continues to be great and I am so thankful that I followed what Heavenly Father wanted me to do rather than what I wanted to do! Tonight should be fantastic because I am finally going to learn how to make Michael's (my old home teacher) banana bread. Wish me luck!
Love,
Kels
