"You can't be paralyzed by fear of failure or you will never push yourself. You keep pushing because you believe in yourself and in your vision and you know that it is the right thing to do, and success will come. So don't be afraid to fail."-Arnold Schwarzenegger

So I have a new found love for Arnold. Perhaps because I took a personality test in which I found out the famous people with my same personality. (Which by the way is the second rarest INTJ).Yes, this did happen when my roommate Lindsey and I got bored.  Some famous people with my personality include:
  • Hillary Clinton (yeah, you read that right...)
  • Susan B. Anthony
  • Lance Armstrong
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger
and now onto some fictional characters:
  • Mr. Darcy
  • Hannibal the Cannibal (from Silence of the Lambs)
From this list, I have learned that I am either going to be a difference maker or a complete psycho. (But according to my father, if you get away with murder, that's totally acceptable...)
But seriously, I am totally okay with ending up like Susan B. Anthony. Hannibal the cannibal? Not so much. I am determined to end up like the cool people on my list!

Anyways, I was having a bit of a rough day because I received the first D EVER on a paper. My teacher was a total jerk if I say so myself but whatever. Lucky for me I have this wonderful dad who sends who always knows what I need to hear. So he found this inspirational commencement speech from Arnold (I'm his friend now because I have the same personality and therefore can refer to him by his first name only). My favorite excerpt is:

"When you're out there partying, horsing around, someone out there at the same time is working hard.Someone is getting smarter and someone is winning. Just remember that. Now, if you want to coast through life, don't pay attention to any of those rules. But if you want to win, there is absolutely no way around hard, hard work."

I LOVE this. It's very motivational to me to continue to be the rest regardless of what life throws at me. Even though sometimes I feel that people have it easier, they actually don't.

Now onto some pictures of some of the really awesome things I did this weekend:
DEER STATUE!! In downtown Provo!
Me and Madison at the top of the rock wall!
Madison and I laughing at ourselves!
Madison, Me, Spencer and Mitch being rock climbing champions!
Spencer took this from the top! So cool!
Random cute picture with straight hair!
Madison and I beasting at the rock wall.
Beatles picture!
SHAVING CREAM FIGHT!
Loving Marisa's hair!
The customary hold Madison picture!
So classy! Like characters from the Grinch.
Marisa coloring my hair like a boss!
Some highlights of the last couple weeks:
  • Two of my co-workers, Michal and Casey got into the PR program. This is a massive deal as they can now continue forward with their life. SO EXCITED for them! :)
  • Weekends! So the past two weekends have been a blast. Two weekends ago, I had the opportunity to babysit the cutest baby ever (aka my boss's little daughter) at his mom's house. It was just me, the baby and his mom and it ended up so much fun! I loved talking to her about her life and I loved that she listened to my typical teenager troubles. Two Saturdays ago, I woke up feeling super home sick. So like all regular people, I decided to watch TV which led me to find out that Money Can't Buy Me Love featuring this stellar young man. Which totally reminded me of the time my mom did that freaky African dance they do in the movie. (But I won't go into details because otherwise my mom will be mad) Which reminded me that I missed my family. So it cheered me up, but also made me miss them! Later, Madison, Marisa, Mitch and Michael (yes, I am so out of the loop because my name starts with a K!) ended up going to the basketball game where we creamed the other team (I think it was Pepperdine but it didn't really matter because we DOMINATED them) The only other thing I really remember is that I promised them I would watch Lord of the Rings. I really don't know how I got into that but whatever. A promise is a promise and hopefully they will forget about it! Anyways, we picked up Spencer and headed to Red Robin where I enjoyed the most delicious turkey burger EVER. I am beginning to think that I have an obsession because I bought ground turkey at Target (but more on that later!) After our excellent Red Robin, we decided to go star gazing. Yep, you might think this was an awkward idea because it would be the five of us and none of us are dating each other. However, this ended up being so great. We got all of our blankets (because it was like zero degrees in the mountains) and headed up to a park in the mountains. When we got there, the clouds decided to come out and say "Kelsey I hate you, I am not going to actually let you look at the stars." (This seriously happened.) So we decided to play iPod idol. Right before we started playing, a cop came up and asked us if we were smoking. hahahaha Oh how I love cops and oh how they love me. Apparently, it looked like we were smoking because it was so cold. Anyways, we commenced with the singing and needless to say all of our voices were very hoarse. On Sunday, we got roped into helping make Chili with Mitch. (haha just kidding!) I just want to let everyone know that I actually cut peppers! And I didn't cut myself. See, I am moving up in the world. Afterwards, we might have gotten into a HUGE snow ball fight. Here's how it went: I would pretend to be throwing snowballs and generally just running around all over while Mitch, Spencer and Madison decided to actually attack each other. haha but it was still really fun and I LOVE SNOW!!!!!!!!!:) Afterwards, the ladies and I (which means my roommates plus Casey) decided to watch the Grammys where I watched Adele annihilate her performance. I have decided to change my memoir title to "I Wish I was Adele." Seriously. Anyways, it was a great weekend and I was so glad I was so social!
  • Last Friday, I woke up totally excited about the fact that a three day weekend was on its way. And then I walk outside and there is approximately twelve hundred airport van shuttles. So I called my dad and commenced to tell him how EVERYONE and their dog was going home. Luckily for me the weekend turned out great. Instead of going to my last Spanish class, Marisa convinced me to ditch so that we could go to Target.  I am just going to keep my love affair with Target to a short sentence: If I could get married in a Target, I would SO do it. Also, I bought turkey there and I am playing to make a delicious meal tonight with it.  Anyways, it was totally worth it. On Saturday, I walked to downtown Provo with Lindsey and a bunch of her friends! It was GREAT!!!!!!!!! :) I got Gandolfo's (seriously, I feel like I am cheating on Subway because of my new found love for this place), walked around creepy, claustrophobic antique stores where there were creepy masks and got a shake from Sammys. It was so much fun because it was warm and it didn't feel like we were in Provo. (An obvious win-win.) While we were walking home, Madison coerced me into going hiking. So Madison, Mitch, Spencer and Shawn (one of Mitch's roommates/my home teachers) and I went hiking in Rock Canyon. First of all, let's just remind everyone that I HATE hiking. I seriously don't know what I say yes to this stuff, but whatever! It ended up being really fun and I am so glad I went and I did not slip on the snow/die! When we got home, we decided to finally have our shaving cream fight. On the grassy knoll (which for those of you who don't know what it is, is the grassy part in front of our apartment.) It was all very dandy and fun until MITCHELL decided to get some on my STRAIGHTENED HAIR! AH!! It was actually very fun until it came time to wash off and then I just felt gross. We then cleaned up and watched How to Train Your Dragon. It was one of the best Saturdays EVER and it was didn't even involve any of the other crap most 'fun' college weekends consist of. Sunday was kind of a bum day because it was snowing, but it totally ended up okay because we went to Denny's at midnight and I was CRAZY psycho. It was really fun! :) On Monday, we drove up to Chipotle (yay!!!) and went to the Gateway. Spencer and I had a great time looking at self-help books in Barnes and Noble and in Antrhopologie, I got the opportunity to start reading the Happiness  Project which I have ordered and can't wait to read!! We came home and I was content to be in my pj's and do my homework and have some time that I like to call "Kelsey's dark and twisty, rejuvenating time." However, Madison had some different ideas. She and Mitch *AGAIN* coerced me into going rock climbing. You know how in Princess Diaries that Mia states she's not an athletic girl, but she's a "yoga-doing, rock climbing" girl? Well let's just say that holy crap rock climbers are buff and are therefore athletic! We get there and I was all ready to climb a wall. Until we got our harnesses and I attempted to start climbing a wall. haha We were there for around two hours and I STILL had not climbed to the top of one and was therefore feeling like a loser. Then Madison came up with this brilliant idea. We would go to the easiest wall, and we would climb together. Here's the thing. Madison and I have been friends for a LONG time and she completely gets me. Here she was, exhausted from actually climbing walls and she held onto the wall and waited for me every time I needed to rest. We made it together to the top and I was soo happy! I am so thankful for the fact that she believed in me enough to motivate me to the top. Anyways, I made it to the top and I was extremely excited! I, Kelsey Marie Davis, did not give up/quit on something, and I made it to the top. (My arms/wrists did burn for forever yesterday though and I still have an open blister.) However, this really helped me realize how much of a positive influence a person can have on you and I am so thankful that even though we are living in the same apartment, that Madison and I have grown to be even bigger friends.
  • Valentine's day-So Valentine's Day started off fantastic. Honestly, I LOVE being single because I am enjoying hanging out with multiple people and developing stronger relationships with my roommates. This attitude continued during Valentine's day as well. One of my biggest pet peeves is single people who complain about being single. Valentine's day is also a day to celebrate the love you have for all people- your friends, family, roommates. Anyways, it was all going fine and dandy until I got to my English class and found out I had received a D on my paper. A "D?" WHAT  THE HECK MAN?!?! I am trying this new thing where I don't freak out hard core over grades. It's not working so well, but I am not going to continue on with how much I hate the fact that I got a D on a paper. However, my Spanish lab quickly made up for that because we talked about my TA's upcoming wedding and she showed us her dress and everything. So cute. Then my hott date (aka Casey) picked me up so we could go see the Vow. Being the classy ladies we are, we stopped at Taco Bell before the movie so we could sneak food in. During the whole movie, Casey and I kept on repeating "Why the heck are we seeing this movie?" It was so depressing! Yes, Channing Tatum is a beautiful specimen that provided lots of comic relief but I don't EVER want to be in that situation. I am glad that I got to see it my hott date Case though! Overall, I would say that my V-Day was great!
  • Spanish! So I am continuing to love Spanish. I absolutely love the people in there because we're all friends! (Probably because we see each other every day!) I just finished Spanish 101 (I'm in an accelerated class, so I took the final yesterday) Anyways, I am so happy that I am taking it!
  • new taylor swift video/cassie. Yes those two statements correlate. First of all, there was a new Taylor Swift video and it was slightly disappointing. It was boring actually but whatever. This past Sunday, I had the great opportunity to talk to Cassie! It was such a great chat and I am so glad that we have been friends for forever! Seriously (seriously!) she gets me one hundred percent of the time. Also, it is kind of weird how my life and hers always have the same things going on!
  • sloth video. So I have an addiction to Ellen Degeneres clips on YouTube which is how I found this. I was seriously CRYING I was laughing so hard. Who cares that much about a sloth? I think this is what I would be like if I was famous!
  • purple toms. Yes, I officially got a pair of purple toms. You can see what they look like here. They are literally the perfect pair of shoes. My roommate Marisa found them and has decided to call them the "Kelsey Toms" which accurately displays how much I love them!
  • I GOT A PAY RAISE! (Pretty self explanatory, but it was my first one ever and I was pretty excited about it!)
  • Tool shirt! So Marisa is the best and decided that because I am on tool patrol (meaning I have to warn the ladies of our apartment if the guy they like is a jerk), she made me an awesome t-shirt which I will probably be buried in!
Marisa, I LOVE this!
Front of the shirt.
Basically, these past few weeks has been FUN! I have been super social and done many things I did not think I could do. I have officially embraced the full catastrophe of my life and am so excited to be here at BYU learning in a safe, religious environment! Thank you for all your support! (And wow, you made it to the end of  this MASSIVE post! Anyways, here's one of my favorite quotes from my always great Marriage prep class that has greatly strengthened me:

"Even if you exercise your strongest faith, God will not always reward you immediately according to your desires. Rather, God will respond with what in His eternal plan is best for you. He loves you to a depth and completeness you cannot conceive of in your mortal state. Indeed, were you to know His entire plan, you would never ask for that which is contrary to it even though your feelings tempt you to do so. Sincere faith gives understanding and strength to accept the will of our Heavenly Father when it differs from our own. We can accept His will with peace and assurance, confident that His infinite wisdom surpasses our own ability to comprehend fully His plan as it unfolds a piece at a time."
LOVE it! Have a good week everyone!
