"The future depends on what we do in the present"

So the above quote is courtesty of Mahatma Gandhi. And I woud say he is a pretty good guy to be giving that quote seeing how amazing he is. I chose that to title my blog post because again, I have realized the great responsibility I have in life to do what I can TODAY. I am always focused on the next thing, the next class I need to take, or the next thing I have to cross off my checklist. So this is my New Year's resolution: be more involved in the present. Our lives are shaped upon all of our actions and if I am constantly worried about my future, there is no way I am going to ever make my life fulfilling in the present.

Anyways, I have had a rather tumultous life recently... and by tumultous, I really mean "I sat in my pajamas pretty much every day of break." But more on that later.

The first day I got home (December 17) I was sooo freaking happy to be out of Utah. (Sorry Michal!) I swear being at BYU sometimes is like being in a foreign land where you're the 'alien.' When I was on the plane, I actually had a window seat. (Although I was a little freaked out that if the plane crashed I totally wouldn't get out in time, I was excited to see the Rockies from the air.) I swear the moment we crossed the state line because it felt like home. The next couple of days were filled with pajamas, egg nog and an extremely cute dress that I purchased at Target. (I'm not kidding people, I seriously could rule the world in this dress it's that fantastic)

On Tuesday the 21st, Danny's sister Katy got married so I went to the reception which was pretty sweet. (That day was also spent in pj's watching the whole second season of Psych)

Wednesday was spent (yep you guessed it) in my sweats watching the third season of Psych. (Please don't judge me. I'm a college student that works 20 hours a week and have little free time to just completely veg. I had to make up for a whole semester of not having a TV in a couple short weeks.)

Thursday was utterly fantastic because I got to ride in a limo. My uncle Darby, who works as a limosine driver person (I have NO clue what his official title is so I just went with whatever) Anyways, my dad's side of the family were all in the HUGE limo. Even more impressive was the fact that Darby got us out of our cul-de-sac despite my awful parking job of my car. (Seriously it is soooo good that they don't test you on your parking skills before you go to college. I would have cried. In a corner. In the fetal position.) It was awesome because he took us around to see all the lights. It was WAY sweet.

On Christmas Eve, we headed up to my Omi's house. We started out our evening by practicing carols. And then... we went caroling. Yes, I know what you're thinking. There is no way my brother Mason went. But he did. And the only damage he caused was eating one goody bag, so I'd call that a success. It was actually way fun. We then had a delicious dinner that only my Omi can pull off. Seriously, it was delicious! There was minor incident cause by none other than the woman who gave me birth (I do not claim her as a relation after this haha). She was talking to the missionaries (My grandparents house the missionaries and as previously mentioned in a blog, one of them is my visiting teacher's brother) about how the Curel plates were indestructable. So she decided to demonstrate. By chucking it directly at the floor with her whole body force. Let's just say lesson learned. The commercials lie and they do break/shatter on your grandparent's kitchen floor. Just in case you were wondering. After dinner we had the most amazing chocolate torte. It was a chocolate lover's heaven. We then played a white elephantish game where you have to pass the items right or left depending on the story. And to end our evening, we watched Muppet's Christmas Carol in our pj's like tradition mandates. It was utterly perfect.

Christmas was WAY awesome. We got to open our presents and I got this WAY cute pinkish red touch camera and three seasons of Bones. (In case you didn't get hope awesome this was, I almost cried because I was so happy) We then went to my grandma's house and had the traditional brunch including Grinch waffles. We then also played a white elephant game. It was fantastic!

I also got the opportunity to hang out with Cassie and Kelly. They, Madison, and I went shopping and I bought some really cute shirts. After that, Cassie, Kelly and I watched eight episodes of season four of Psych. Yep, I'm a bit obsessive. But it was WAY fun. They are awesome! :) Well minus the fact that they're not Mormon lol jk!

The rest of the days were spent watching mindless TV and chlling with my friends. One crazy thing I did, and again, please don't judge me, watch all three Godfathers wtih my dad. Holy cracker I LOVE those movies. Favorite quote? "Leave the gun, take the canolis." Fantastic. I absolutely loved the hypocrisy of it all. Especially the scene where they're planning a murder in a church. Classic.

New Year's Eve was spent with my dad. Yep, I'm a cool kid. We were so cool that we watched Godfather Part Three, Salt and a couple of episodes of Seinfeld. And get this. My dad actually stayed up to midnight. I was soo proud of him!

Last night my mom finally got home so we had a nice lasagna and garlic bread. (And since I'm in the habit of confessing, I totally ate my fair share of garlic bread. Like four pieces...) We then watched the Blind Side which was totally awesome! I had never seen it before and I loved it. Mason and I then went over to Danny's where we played Curses and talked to Caitlin on the phone. It was a good way to end vacation.

And now here I am sitting in the Salt Lake airport. Ugh! Oh well I cannot wait for all of classes this semsester! Let's just say I'll be writing a lot so I'll be happy.

Some new things I tried over break: Tokoyo Joes (super good!), Qdoba (which I MAY like better than Chipotle please don't tell anyone otherwise I wil be shunned and kicked out of Colorado) and cheese. Yep you read the last one right. I Kelsey Marie Davis tried some really gross queso last night at Danny's.  The world stopped turning for a minute. Maybe you felt it!

Well you made it through another post of mine. I commend you. I hope you guys have a great 2011. I also hope that I get to kiss Matt Damon or marry Jason Derulo. (Both of which are totally credible and attainable through skillfull manuevering. Love you! xoxo
